Santa & I are Besties

tatinsanta

Santa came to the Credit Union last Tuesday. I was his little helper. I think next year I’ll dress up a little more festively. At the end of the day, my face was sore from smiling so much. So many cute kids, some not-so-cute kids, and some really chatty adults.  But you know what, it’s pretty amazing how happy Santa can make people. All in all, as Ice Cube says, “It was a good day.”

In other holiday related news, I made this yesterday to bring some Christmas cheer to my building. I was inspired by Elsie Cake, but made mine a little different. It took me about 2 hours. I just half-double crocheted for 3 rows, and voila!

I now interrupt your regularly scheduled blog for a survey.

Happy Tuesday everyone! Everyday I read my beloved Google Reader over coffee. It’s seriously one of the things I look forward to everyday. A compilation of all of my favorite blogs and people. Today I found this survey on Jaime’s blog and decided to post my answers here. It was nice taking a break out of my day to think about these things. Here we go!

This is one of those posts

Well, actually, I should say: this is one of those rare posts where I don’t really have much to say. Or, rather, I have things to say, but there may or may not be a point. Comprende? Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Haha. It’s Friday, I’m kind of reaching that point of my day where I would normally take a stroll to Coffee Bean and order a nice ice blended drink, but in efforts to save a few bucks I am drinking water. It is fair to say, it is not working.

ring

Isn’t that freakin cute? Haha. I don’t know if I’d actually wear it, but I thought it was a neat etsy find from Destination Design.

In other non-news, I have been super busy lately, which is cool. I love being busy. But at the same time, I miss my free time. Mostly because I miss FILLING my free time with knitting. Speaking of knitting, I think brooklyntweed is amazing. Always inspiring. I want to make this:

Girasole

Yes that is a lace pattern. And yes that is a mother effing BLANKET. Do I have the patience for this? Probably not. Do I love it enough to try? Yes. We’ll see if I decide to give it a whirl. Or as Justin Bobby likes to say “Truth and time tells all.” Puahaha.

And that concludes this Friday late afternoon post that really didn’t serve a purpose. Off to Coffee Bean after all!

Giggly Delirium

This weekend has been full of wedding planning adventures, food, beer, wine and of course, good friends. I am super tired and am planning to camp out in this Irvine Coffee Bean until 5:30pm this evening until I meet up with my coworker to see 311 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at 7pm. That was a long sentence. That’s what happens when I’m exhausted. It’s ok though. It was worth it.

Friday night our friend (and fellow bridesmaid) flew down from San Francisco and landed 40 minutes early! This never happens! Anyway, we picked her up and headed to the Yardhouse in Long Beach where we drank beers and caught up (even though I had seen SF friend two weeks ago). We had a great time, even though our waitress forgot about us for about half an hour (or longer). I was too delirious at that point to tell time. Everything was funny. Pretty much all weekend I could not stop laughing.

Saturday we headed over to the Bride World Expo at the LA Convention Center. Word on the street was that it is the “largest bridal expo in California.” We were not that impressed. We all agreed that it didn’t feel like 200 vendors were in attendance. We did get some free cake samples though. I like anything that’s free. The best cake sample was a yummy taro cake.

The rest of the weekend flew by crazy fast. Onto the new week!

As you are aware, I’m not at home today, so I don’t have my sewing machine handy, BUT I will be posting a super super quick project tomorrow inspired by this photo from The Sartorialist:

Perhaps you can guess what the project will be? Eh? Eh? That will be coming at ya tomorrow evening. So get ready for it!

In other news, I have been dedicating a lot of time lately to modifying, building, and writing for TV Rots Your Mind Grapes.

HIMYM

It’s our new baby. Marissa is the co-creator of this super fun project, and an excellent writer. We love TV, particularly good TV and like to write about it. You should check it out! We just started it this week; the blog will get juicier as it ripens. (Ha!) I crack myself up.

Holidays = Excuses to Make Stuff

Oh dear, oh dear. My trip to San Francisco this past weekend has resulted in super sleepy eyes every day this week.

It was well worth it, but still, no bueno! Sleepy eyes and a sore throat to boot. What the heck. But, being the positive person that I am, I can say that the one (and possibly only) good thing about being so sleepy is how my sleepy state makes everything seem really funny. These spontaneous bouts of silliness I am experiencing are definitely helping me with a new blog project I am working on with a friend of mine. It’s going to be fun, informative, but mostly just ridiculous.

Vintage_4th_Of_July

Vintage 4th of July Palette from COLOURlovers

Hey! It’s a holiday weekend?  Yeah it is! You and I both know that crafters love nothing more than a good holiday. Holidays = excuses to make stuff. For realz. For the past few years I’ve been aching to dress up as Uncle Sam for the 4th of July. I just might attempt it this year. Last year I was let down by the always reliable Party City. No 4th of July decor WHATSOEVER. What’s up with that, Party City? I shouldn’t be going there anyway. Bad Tati!

But, don’t you love this color palette from COLOURlovers? I wish our flag was made using these colors. Sorry America! Please don’t stone me for my blasphemous opinions.  I really do love our country and our colors… but sometimes, we get a little too cheesy with our patriotism. This 4th of July, let’s be patriotic in a classy way. Eh? Yeah? We’ll see what happens.

I’m so excited for the 3-day weekend! Yes, I am excited to catch up on sleep, but also just to get things done… and post the results! I’ll be kicking this weekend off with dinner with a friend tonight (I am Maid of Honor in her wedding, so I’m excited to talk about her upcoming pre-wedding in Vegas and lots and lots of other wedding planning things). Two of my cousins are flying down from Alaska to visit the family, so I’ll be seeing them on Saturday, yay! And, Sunday I will be spending quality time with my Orange County ladies. Time in between will be spent between web projects and sewing projects. Ugh! I can’t wait for the weekend to begin! Happy Thursday everyone!
