Adventures in Japantown

Sometimes, you just need a day of random adventures. Today was one of those days. Two gals, one mission: to catch up. I recently returned from my vacay in London. Although a short trip, it’s important to reconnect! And while doing so, I reconnected with our beloved city, from the safety (and warmth!) of a car. Did I mention it was raining today? The car was a definite plus (thanks, Jane!)

I know, kind of ridiculous, but what was more ridiculous was the shriek sound I made when I saw Hello Kitty taking photos in the store – I HAD TO GET ONE! Also, Jane and I did not coordinate our outfits this morning, yet we were twinsies today.

We were also excited about taking purikura photos. It was $10 but TOTALLY worth it. I can’t wait to take my sisters and cousin there when they come up to visit in April. Hilarity will ensue.

Spotlight: Makeup Artist Arianna Jimenez

Halloween is in full swing, and really, what would Halloween be without make-up? I thought I’d shine a little spotlight on my super talented little sister, Arianna Jimenez who blogs about her work over at Stilettos and Eyeliner.

Her makeup looks are spooky, nostalgic, fantastical, but always beautiful. Check out her blog for the neat new makeup looks she has a-brewin’. Yay!

I Saw the Sign: Sausalito Edition

… or, SAUCY-lito, as we are now calling it.

Anyway, for a few weeks now, Marissa, Jane and I had been planning to check out Sausalito. I have never been and I kept hearing that it was a great place to relax, eat good food and take in the pretty views. So we met at the ferry and escaped our little city that was bustling with Fleet Week excitement (and, rightfully so, lots o’ visitors).

There were a lot of really great signs in Sausalito, so I thought I’d share some of the ones I came across. Here we go! read more »

Sunday Inspiration: Taschen Spring/Summer 2010 Catalogue

I haven’t visited my fam in four months (which is the longest I’ve been away from home! Ack.) and in that time my Taschen catalogue arrived! I finally got to flip through it while I was waiting (for 3 long hours) to board my flight. But anyway, these images kept me company, as well as the lady next to me who kept glancing over. Sorry I didn’t scan these, but I think the iPhone worked just fine. Enjoy! read more »

It’s a lovely day for a picnic!

It wasn’t really a lovely day for a picnic at all… I just like quoting Little Women as much as I possibly can. Anyway! I have the kind of fun task of designing the t-shirt for our annual company picnic. We’re doing a one color print on a Kelly green shirt. Not my usual task, but it is a challenge I have accepted and I hope I can pretend to be an illustrator and do my best. In the meantime, I’ve been looking at pretty picnicing pictures for inspiration (even though the shirts will look nothing like these). Enjoy!
