This is one of those posts

Well, actually, I should say: this is one of those rare posts where I don’t really have much to say. Or, rather, I have things to say, but there may or may not be a point. Comprende? Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Haha. It’s Friday, I’m kind of reaching that point of my day where I would normally take a stroll to Coffee Bean and order a nice ice blended drink, but in efforts to save a few bucks I am drinking water. It is fair to say, it is not working.

Isn’t that freakin cute? Haha. I don’t know if I’d actually wear it, but I thought it was a neat etsy find from Destination Design.

In other non-news, I have been super busy lately, which is cool. I love being busy. But at the same time, I miss my free time. Mostly because I miss FILLING my free time with knitting. Speaking of knitting, I think brooklyntweed is amazing. Always inspiring. I want to make this:

Girasole

Yes that is a lace pattern. And yes that is a mother effing BLANKET. Do I have the patience for this? Probably not. Do I love it enough to try? Yes. We’ll see if I decide to give it a whirl. Or as Justin Bobby likes to say “Truth and time tells all.” Puahaha.

And that concludes this Friday late afternoon post that really didn’t serve a purpose. Off to Coffee Bean after all!

Holidays = Excuses to Make Stuff

Oh dear, oh dear. My trip to San Francisco this past weekend has resulted in super sleepy eyes every day this week.

It was well worth it, but still, no bueno! Sleepy eyes and a sore throat to boot. What the heck. But, being the positive person that I am, I can say that the one (and possibly only) good thing about being so sleepy is how my sleepy state makes everything seem really funny. These spontaneous bouts of silliness I am experiencing are definitely helping me with a new blog project I am working on with a friend of mine. It’s going to be fun, informative, but mostly just ridiculous.

Vintage 4th of July Palette from COLOURlovers

Hey! It’s a holiday weekend?  Yeah it is! You and I both know that crafters love nothing more than a good holiday. Holidays = excuses to make stuff. For realz. For the past few years I’ve been aching to dress up as Uncle Sam for the 4th of July. I just might attempt it this year. Last year I was let down by the always reliable Party City. No 4th of July decor WHATSOEVER. What’s up with that, Party City? I shouldn’t be going there anyway. Bad Tati!

But, don’t you love this color palette from COLOURlovers? I wish our flag was made using these colors. Sorry America! Please don’t stone me for my blasphemous opinions.  I really do love our country and our colors… but sometimes, we get a little too cheesy with our patriotism. This 4th of July, let’s be patriotic in a classy way. Eh? Yeah? We’ll see what happens.

I’m so excited for the 3-day weekend! Yes, I am excited to catch up on sleep, but also just to get things done… and post the results! I’ll be kicking this weekend off with dinner with a friend tonight (I am Maid of Honor in her wedding, so I’m excited to talk about her upcoming pre-wedding in Vegas and lots and lots of other wedding planning things). Two of my cousins are flying down from Alaska to visit the family, so I’ll be seeing them on Saturday, yay! And, Sunday I will be spending quality time with my Orange County ladies. Time in between will be spent between web projects and sewing projects. Ugh! I can’t wait for the weekend to begin! Happy Thursday everyone!

What the WHAT!?!?

So, as most bloggers did on Friday, or sometime last week, I upgraded to WordPress 2.8. Everything was dandy. I just got back from my camping trip an hour ago and my blog is theme-less! So bare, sad, and unknown to me. Problem solved though! My apologies for the temporary ugly. The look of this theme will be changing a bit more to suit my needs (i.e. what’s up with the forest polaroid), but so far I’m digging it!

Stay tuned for this week’s Upcycle Sundays! It’s a-brewin and a-stewin.

Topsy Turvy!

Man oh man. So many things to say in one post, I like to try to keep them focused on one or two topics, but not this time! This will be my circus/variety show-type post.

First of all, remember a long time ago when I wrote about Burda Style? And how awesome I thought they were because they provided open source patterns? Well, yesterday I received an email from them, as I usually do since I am on their mailing list, and I see this lovely pattern:

Unfortunately, you have to purchase it. Now, I’m all for paying for patterns. That’s fine. But when you advertise your company as “Open Source Sewing,” I feel that it is misleading to do so and charge for a pattern. The term “Open Source” derives from the free software movement, so the implications of this term are “FREE.” I mean, $3.50 is a bargain compared to some of the patterns out there for $18.95, but that is besides the point. I just feel a bit disappointed.

In other news, for all of you embroiderers out there, this fine lady (who’s blog is AMAZING, by the way) has uploaded a free embroidery pattern. And it’s super cute! I might actually try it myself… we’ll see what happens.

Moving on. Last night I got home and while going through my junkmail I found an advertisement for THIS. I think god loves me this month. Either that or Elvis Crespo was reading my mind and knew that I have ALWAYS wanted to see him live. SUAVE!

This is seriously the cheesiest music video, probably of all time. You gotta love the costume changes. I like to call it “The many faces of Crespo.”

Lastly, I recently joined Indiepublic. So far I’m digging it. It’s a nice way to network with other independent crafters, artists and designers all over the world. And everyone is super friendly! I spent about an hour on their site the other day and became really inspired and excited about adding more items to my etsy shop. Good stuff.

Alright kiddies! That concludes my Topsy Turvy post. Don’t forget to check out KUCI Nights at the Yost Theater this Thursday! Only $8! It’s a bargain to experience some new music. I’ll also be HERE on Friday. Yay Lykke Li! I’ve never seen her live, nor have I been to the Hollywood Forever Cemetary. Should be fun. I’ll try to take blog-worthy pics for you beauties!

I heart good commercials.
